A simple line, a subtle detail, an unobtrusive object carefully crafted with the humble intention of improving one’s living environment. A willful intent to combine skill, knowledge and technique towards attention to design and a reverence for material to continually approach ones very best in craft. These ideals embody my intentions as a craftsperson anytime I set out to make a new object.

Sam Cotton is a furniture maker and designer currently practicing in Thomaston Maine. Between receiving a Bachelor degree in sculpture at Colorado College and a Master degree in industrial design at Pratt Institute Sam studied furniture making at the College of the Redwoods Fine Woodworking program (currently known as The Krenov School) permanently cementing a passion for sensitive expressions in furniture making through the timeless traditions of the cabinetmaker. Sam is currently working in the boatbuilding industry and is very proud to call the state of Maine his home.

Inquiries into Sam’s original work, as well as all forms of commission in design and fabrication are welcome.
